Dear [Recipient's Name],
Dear Chair McFarland, Please schedule HB 1395 to your committee. I support what this bill does, including increasing parental rights and data privacy. AI has some good however AI has the potential to impact children across the state at a higher rate than adults. An online survey conducted by Learner.com found that: 70.9 percent are worried about AI creating over-reliance on technology. An August 2024 survey conducted by the Cybersecurity company Norton: 93 percent of parents are concerned about AI being used in the classroom or at school 51 percent of parents worry about their children coming across inappropriate content through AI According to Common Sense Media: 1 out of 3 of children are choosing an AI companion over a human for serious conversations. According to the APA: Adolescents are less likely than adults to question the accuracy and intent of information offered by a bot as compared with a human. For these reasons please schedule HB 1395 in your committee.
