Collier County Registered Voter Petition regarding New Superintendent

Whereas, Superintendent Kamala Patton on June 13, 2022 announced her plan to retire in June of 2023;
 
Whereas, Collier County voters will elect a new School Board majority in 2022;

Whereas, the distinct possibility exists that School Board incumbents in District 1, 3 and 5 will not be elected in the August 23 Primary or the Nov. 8 General Election unless each incumbent  receives 50% plus 1 vote majority in this county-wide race, meaning each voter gets to vote  in each of the District 1, 3 and 5 races;

Whereas, the will of the voters should be respected, and the newly elected School Board should hire Ms. Patton's replacement;

Whereas, among other things, the current Collier School Board is responsible for the following:
   - 40% of the 48,000 Collier Public School students cannot read or do math at grade level, and
   - allowing Superintendent Patton to train the entire CCPS administrative and principals staff on Critical Race Theory (CRT), and
    - allowing extensive, sexually explicit and age inappropriate materials in CCPS media centers in violation of FL Statutes 847.001, 847.012 and 1006.28, and
    -allowing policies and practices promoting gender dysphoria to young students
 
Therefore, Be It Resolved by my signature below as a Collier Resident that I demand the selection process for a new superintendent not begin until after the 2022 School Board election is final.
