Dear [Recipient's Name],
Dear Legislators, I am a constituent of yours. As you contemplate your support for HB 1, I urge you to support changing the economics in FS 1002.395 to dramatically limit the monopoly power of Step Up for Students by increasing the number of Student Funding Organizations. Not only is Step Up very slow and bureaucratic, but we remind you that they have a substantial monetary, strategic relationship with Equality Florida. If “Florida is where woke comes to die,” Step Up should not be rewarded with expanded power. Incentivize the creation of many student Funding Organizations. Competition is ALWAYS a good thing. Please see part of the article written by Equality FL below: “Equality Florida, the state’s leading LGBTQ rights organization, has joined forces with Step Up For Students, the state’s largest K-12 scholarship organization, to bring LGBTQ awareness training to private schools wishing to participate. The goal is for Equality Florida to expand a current public school-based LGBTQ training program to private schools with scholarship students. Step Up has raised $1 million privately to seed the multi-year endeavor. That money is aimed at providing four years of ongoing training services for private school administrators and teachers, provided by Equality Florida’s Safe Schools team and coordinated by Step Up’s staff….”
