Florida’s kids are being exposed to sexually explicit materials in schools that harm childrens mental health. Current policies make it hard for parents to challenge this content, and legal loopholes keep inappropriate books on shelves.
This bill has already passed the first committee in the Senate. It is critically important that this bill gets scheduled and voted on in the first House committee this upcoming week.
Why it matters:
Studies link explicit content to increased anxiety, depression, and identity struggles.
Schools create roadblocks for parents trying to protect their children.
The Miller Test is misused to justify keeping explicit material in schools.
HB 1539 fixes this. It strengthens protections, streamlines the challenge process, and ensures Florida law prioritizes kids' mental health.
Also, we would encourage you to contact the chair of the Education Administration Subcommittee and the other members of the committee to schedule the bill in committee and vote Yes. If you do please use the stricpt we have provided. Please be respectful and encouraging.
